FLIR Systems, Inc. (Wilsonville, Ore.) announces the release of Tau. The smallest, lightest, lowest-power uncooled longwave thermal camera core in its class, Tau delivers outstanding thermal imagery with its 25ยต detector and proprietary Digital Detail Enhancement image processing algorithms.

The first uncooled thermal camera core to combine all of these attributes into one affordable, high-performance package, Tau is the perfect imaging core for handheld thermal cameras, unmanned vehicle vision systems, firefighting imagers, thermal weapon sights, and many other applications.

Tau is not just a single imager, but a family of cameras consisting of three camera configurations and seven available lens options, enabling Tau to meet the needs of this wide variety of applications.

Whether your application needs the high-performance Tau-P, the Tau-F made for demanding firefighting imagers, or the fully digital Tau-D, FLIR has a Tau camera for any OEM platform.

Tau also offers excellent integration flexibility through its powerful Tau GUI and SDK, allowing users to control a variety of camera functions, select an analog video format (NTSC/PAL), and configure a digital interface (8/14-bit serial LVDS, 8/14-bit parallel CMOS, or BT.656), for complete camera configuration.
